Overview

WaiterAid is a leading booking system for restaurants, used by everything from Michelin-starred establishments to small local eateries. Despite its extensive functionality, some features were not fully utilized by restaurant staff. My work focused on analyzing user behaviors and identifying solutions to increase awareness and engagement with the existing features in the system.

About project

WaiterAid wanted to understand why certain features were underutilized and how they could improve the user experience. Through user interviews and an analysis of the current interface, key areas for improvement were identified. I created wireframes showcasing design enhancements to clarify functionality and optimize the user flow. Later, an external consultant took over to develop the prototype, where I played a key role in explaining the existing system, user challenges, and insights from our research. I also provided detailed explanations of my wireframes to ensure that the design intentions were preserved in the prototype. The goal was to make the system more intuitive and increase user engagement.

My role

In this project, I worked as a UX designer. I participated in user interviews to understand how restaurants interacted with the system and to identify pain points. By analyzing the current interface, I was able to pinpoint usability issues in the user flow. I created wireframes to improve navigation and functionality within the system, ensuring a more seamless experience. To support the development process, I provided detailed explanations of my wireframes to maintain the intended design vision in the final prototype. I collaborated closely with an external consultant who was responsible for building the prototype, guiding them through the existing system and the specific challenges faced by users. Additionally, I proposed solutions to increase user awareness and adoption of underutilized features. Throughout the process, I worked with the team to ensure that the design improvements were both feasible and aligned with the overall business goals.

Managed user testing, gathering feedback and making improvements to the app. Kept the project on track by organizing time and resources effectively.

This project gave me valuable experience in user-centered design and improved my skills in UI design, research, and creating prototypes.
